Back in November, we introduced our brand new Rdio apps for iOS and Android. Today we’re highlighting one of the most loved additions from our update to help make the most of your Rdio experience — with the remote control feature, your music is never out of reach.

When Rdio is in Remote Control Mode, you can still control the tunes playing from your phone with the web and desktop apps.

Clicking Play Here Instead will stop the song in its tracks. Press play to continue the same song on whichever app or browser you’re using.

On the flipside, now the mobile apps will let you know when “Rdio is playing elsewhere,” too. Tap the bottom to bring up the updated playback screen. From there, you can use your mobile phone to control Rdio if it’s playing on another device.

Listening to music on your laptop while getting ready to go out? Pause, skip, play a Station, modify your Queue, and more from the comfort of your palm. Ready to head out? Keep the jams going by tapping Play Here Instead and your mobile device will pick up where your laptop left off.

This week, we’re diving into new Rdio’s Stations — Stations provide easy, instant mixes for those who are in the mood to sit back and listen. Wherever you see a Play Station button, click Play to hear a shuffled mix based on the music from that page.

Here are three types of Stations you’ll see as you browse new Rdio:

Heavy Rotation: Want to hear a sample of the great tunes your Network is listening to? If so, the Heavy Rotation Station is for you.

Collection: Create a Station from your Collection (or anyone else’s) to play a shuffled mix of songs — then relax and bask in the carefully-curated musical glory.

Artist: With Artist Stations, you’ll get a mix of songs from both your selected Artist, and similar Artists.

Prefer to hear a shuffled mix of tunes from the selected Artist only? Press the play button from the page header to start an Artist-only station.

We’re back with more Tip & Tricks for New Rdio — today we’re focusing on some of the ways we realized a couple oft-requested features. Let’s take a closer look at the Action Menu.

Click the plus (+) sign on any album, track, or playlist to open the Action Menu. Unlimited Subscribers can use Sync to Mobile to add the item to their Offline Collection. If you’d like to add the album to your Queue, select Play Later.

You may have noticed that Add to Playlist now appears on albums too. That’s right, you can add full-album to playlists using the action menu, or using another brand new feature — drag and drop.

On New Rdio you can click an album and drag it directly into a playlist in the left-hand sidebar.

This brings us to the next menu on the action menu — Share. Select Share from the menu to open up all the share options.

You can also use that nifty drag and drop feature to Share, too! Just drag the item to a friends icon in the right-hand sidebar to open up the Share menu, and send to them via Facebook, Twitter, Email, or direct link.

Since launching the new Rdio preview for all subscribers, we want to point out some the handy new features and behind-the-scenes improvements. This week — let’s look at your friends, family and the rest of the people you follow on Rdio.

Your Rdio Network is like a recommendations system tailored for you, by you — they influence the music you’ll see and discover every time you log into Rdio.

Your Network

Now it’s easy to look at your friends’ favorite picks. From the new People Sidebar you can quickly view Your Network, and see what your Online friends are listening to on Rdio.

Find something that catches your eye? Hover over your friend’s name to listen along with a single click, or add his current tunes to your Collection or Queue.

Quick tip: Click the People icon to open or close the sidebar.

Who to Follow

Click ‘Find and Invite People’ to find out which of your friends are already on Rdio —you’ll have the option to connect with Facebook, Twitter or your email account directly.

Once the accounts are linked, you’ll see a list of friends from your network who are already on Rdio, but you’re not yet following, in the People You Know section.

What about people I don’t already know?

The labels, magazines, musicians, and tastemakers you’ll find in our Suggestions section are great for inspiration, discovery, and some pretty fantastic playlists. And Your Network probably follows some pretty interesting people themselves, so you can check their profiles for amped-up discovery.

What's new in the forums? 

At the bottom of the main page, you can browse Rdio's Community Discussions, which are separated into platform-based categories.

When viewing a discussion, you can respond with a post of your own, and can also vote for other answers as well. Click the up arrow next to a question or answer, and let us know posts you've found most helpful.

On long threads, these votes will help surface the best answers.

Many monthly cellular data plans are limited these days — but luckily that doesn’t mean your Rdio experience has to be limited as well.

There are a few easy ways to conserve your data without restricting your Rdio Mobile apps (for iPhone, Android and Blackberry)—this week’s Tips & Tricks is here to show you how.

Tip 1: Sync Your Tunes

Save data by syncing your tunes. Synced music is stored directly on your device, and does not need a connection to play. Whether you’re Online or Offline, playing synced music won’t use any data.

Tip 2: Stream and Sync over a Wifi Connection

Connect to Wifi for high-quality streams and faster syncing without taking a toll on your monthly 3G data plan.

Tip 3: Customize Your Sync Settings

To minimize date usage while syncing your tunes, edit your Settings. On an iOS device, go to Settings and tap Advanced—you can select “Wifi Only” to make sure the phone won’t ever sync over 3G. On an Android device you can do this by going to Settings, tapping Enable Background Syncing and selecting “Wifi Only.”

Now you can listen to Rdio on-the-go, worry-free. If you’ve got any questions or comments, we’d love to hear from you.

With New Releases, friends’ favorites and Recommendations aplenty on Rdio, it’s hard to know what to listen to next. Luckily, your Queue is here to help.

Not ready to commit a new find to your Collection? Re-discover a favorite album? Need a few hours of music for a long afternoon at work? The Queue is a great resting place for tunes you’re anxious to hear — add anything to it: albums, songs, playlists or Rdio Stations.

Ready, set, Queue.

Quickly add new music to your Queue from the action menu, or shortcut an album to the top of your Queue with a quick CMD (or CTRL on PC) + click.

Once what you’re currently listening to finishes, your Queue will start playing.

Let’s see what you’ve got.

Access and organize your Queue directly from your Dashboard. From there you can view or reorganize your picks, and even quick-click a track straight to the top. Gotten a little too click-happy? You can clear your Queue here too.
