For Your Eyes and Ears: Elvis Costello and The Roots on New Music Weekly

Is this the epic collaboration of the year or what? Elvis Costello and The Roots join forces on the new album, Wise Up Ghost, out today. We couldn’t help but feature the track “Come The MEANTIMES” from these cool cats in our shiny New Music Weekly video.

We’re not the only ones whose minds were blown by the music. Video artist Bart Hess weighs in on the bold-as-brass sound:

"After hearing the track I wanted to create a brass band, an extraordinary brass band. The heads of the musicians are reshaped into golden instruments, which the band members hit and blow to create shape and sound. The video is a play on elastic materials that I gave a new appearance using light and shine spray while molding them over objects that transform the face."

For Your Eyes and Ears: MGMT on New Music Weekly

This is a very special week for our New Music Weekly video. Get an exclusive 15-second taste of MGMT’s self-titled new album and the “Optimizer”, the unique visual accompaniment created by the band. Experience the entire album and video right here — you'll only find the one-week preview on Rdio!

Let video artists Andrew Benson, Alejandro Crawford, Emilio Gomariz, Geoffrey Lillemon, and Chris Timms transport you out of this world:

"MGMT's psyche-pop space-rock has always hinted at alien, other-wordly origins; a rich territory for the possibilities of CGI and virtual worlds. Drawing on the unnatural vibrant colours and strange and mysterious landscapes of alien worlds, each of the artists who contributed to the optimizer project presents their unique virtual illumination of MGMT's alien origin, produced and arranged by MGMT's live show video instrumentalist Alejandro Crawford."
