The NCIS: Benchmark soundtrack dropped yesterday from the 10-season-long police drama NCIS, but unlike many film or television soundtracks, this one has a special twist. Both Pauley Perrette (who plays Abby Sciuto) and Michael Weatherly (Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo) have contributed original songs to the collection, which also features artists such as Lady Antebellum, Neon Trees, Patty Griffin, and Hank Williams. To celebrate, Perrette and Weatherly have made exclusive playlists for Rdio listeners that offer insight into their musical lives.
Perrette’s collection, featuring bands like Modest Mouse, Indigo Girls, Capital Cities, and Vintage Trouble, “are tracks in the family of songs that I like to listen to when I’m down,” says the actress, “Songs that inspire and make me feel better!”
Weatherly has selected wistful and melodic songs with a hint of hope and longing from artists like The Kinks, Elvis Costello, The Police, and Fleetwood Mac. “It is the mystery in them that keeps me returning to them year after year,” he reveals.
