New Music Tuesday - October 2, 2012

Swedish pop chanteuse Taken By Trees, art-pop pianist Tori Amos, garage rockers The Vaccines and hip-hop vet Prince Paul hold enough sway to fulfill any New Music Tuesday, but as per usual, there’s still a lot more musical goodness to get you through the week.

The New Music Tuesday playlist is below; listen while you read the Playlist Notes, and don’t forget to browse all of the new titles in the Rdio New Releases.

Playlist Notes

  • Matt & Kim - Lightning
The happy-go-lucky dance duo are back with their latest feel-good album, recorded in their Brooklyn apartment. Try to keep your foot still for this one.

  • Cher Lloyd - Sticks + Stones
The UK singer already has four charting singles under her belt, but she’s making a statement with her debut album, which she calls a “jukebox” for it’s genre-hopping tracklist.

  • The Mountain Goats - Transcendental Youth
Folksy yarn-spinner John Darnielle has been called one of the best lyricists of our time. His new album features multi-part vocal harmonies and exquisite string arrangements, and is about outcasts; How could it not be beautiful?

  • Soundgarden - “Been Away Too Long”
For ‘90s grunge lovers, doesn’t the title say it all?
