New Music Tuesday - October 16, 2012

This week’s New Releases bring a plethora of great tunes to your ears. New music from the likes of Swedish dance-pop troupe Icona Pop, piano songstress A Fine Frenzy, lo-fi slacker Mac DeMarco, hip-hop standard-bearer K’Naan, and quirky pop songwriter Mika promise a week’s worth of listening, but as per usual, there’s more.

“Like what,” you ask? Listen to the New Music Tuesday playlist below, and read our Playlist Notes to start, then delve into the Rdio New Releases for all of the week’s latest.

Playlist Notes

  • The Luyas - Animator
The new full-length by the indie-pop outfit, known for their eclectic instrumentation, is a cathartic album that explores themes of tragedy and mortality. Don’t miss them at our Rdio Live in NYC show on October 20!

  • Jason Lytle - Dept. Of Disappearance
The former Grandaddy frontman fuses themes of everyday life with grand, sweeping beauty on his latest solo album.

  • Jason Aldean - Night Train
Country star Jason Aldean can be as rough’n’tumble as he can be heartfelt. Fifth album balances both, all punctuated by his smooth country croon.

  • Placebo - B3 EP
The glammy Brits bridge the distance between their 2009 album Battle for the Sun and their next album with a five-song EP. Give a listen for hints as to what their forthcoming seventh studio album might sound like.
