Strike a Pose: New York Fashion Week

NYFW

As any good Fashion lover can tell you, the international fashion weeks are upon us! The season kicks off today with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York running February 6-13. To honour the longstanding relationship between fashion and music, we’re looking back at the sounds from the Spring/Summer 2014 catwalk in New York to inspire your stylish side.

Mumbai born designer Naeem Khan chose English bands Rudimental and Disclosure to provide the musical backdrop to his Spring/Summer collection. Rudimental’s chart topping track “Waiting All Night” feat. Ella Eyre and Disclosure’s “Latch” feat. Critics’ Choice winner Sam Smith supplied their distinctive drum-step beats for the models to strut along with down the catwalk.

French house DJ Kavinsky’s electro-pop beats accompanied the classic French clothing label Lacoste for the Spring/Summer collection with the ironically named track “Odd Look.”

Spanish brand Desigual showcased their signature flamboyant designs to the high energy sounds of Empire of the Sun’s “Alive.”

And finally, enjoy the bopping-electronic sound of Joywave’s “Tongues” as heard on the Tanya Taylor catwalk — a great track for practicing practice your fashion week strut.
