If you’re into electronic, then this is your week: dance to Vitalic’s French-house-inspired sounds, or vibe out to Teen Daze’s chillwave, synth haze. For those with other musical hankerings, go to rapper E-40’s collaboration with fellow vet Too Short, R’n’B songstress Macy Gray’s new one, or the latest from power-pop outfit Motion City Soundtrack.

The choices don’t end there: read our playlist notes below for more from our New Music Tuesday playlist, and check out the Rdio New Releases for all the music released this week.

Playlist Notes

  • Rod Stewart - Merry Christmas, Baby
The holiday season has begun with Rock and Roll Hall-Of-Famer Rod Stewart’s new Christmas album, full of his takes on festive favorites.

  • Ne-Yo - R.E.D.
R.E.D. stands for Realizing Every Dream, as the RnB singer’s fifth album takes influence from a number of sources — the Beatles included — and weaves them into one full-length album.

  • Aerosmith - Music From Another Dimension!
The legendary rock troupe’s first album since 2004 is titled Music From Another Dimension! As if you need any more enticement to listen than that.

  • Paul Wall - No Sleep Til Houston
The Texan rapper drops a mixtape while we wait for his next full-length. The tape features classic hardcore production: deep bass, strings, and orchestra hits.

  • Dirty Projectors - About to Die
The Brooklyn art-pop outfit follow up this year’s formidable Swing Lo, Magellan with an EP of album b-sides from the same recording sessions. We expect more experimental goodness.
