New Music Tuesday - November 27, 2012

As the holidays near and the record releases slow down, we get a chance to look back on our favourite artists and their careers. In that spirit, both UK pop quartet McFly and operatic pop outfit Il Divo have best of releases to hear this week. And, of course, there’s a little holiday music, too: grab a mug of hot cocoa and curl up with Michael Bublé’s new Christmas album.

Listen to our New Music Tuesday playlist for more music from this week, and consult our Playlist Notes below that for more highlights. As always, the entirety of the week’s new music is in the Rdio New Releases.

Playlist Notes

  • Alicia Keys - Girl On Fire
The piano-based R’n’B chanteuse releases her fifth studio album this week. It comes after a number of firsts for Keys, including the birth of her first child. We expect plenty of inspired songwriting on this one.

  • Rage Against The Machine - XX (20th Anniversary Special Edition)
The most revered rap-rock combo of all time gets their debut album remastered for release today. Whether you’ve long been a fan and you’ve got your fingers crossed for reunion, or you’re just hearing about them now, it’s the perfect time to dive into this classic album.

  • 50 Cent - “My Life”
50 Cent’s long-awaited fifth album might not come out until next year, but this new single should whet appetites: the bumping track features guest spots from Eminem and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
