Little Big Town Share their Pre-Show “Dressing Room Playlist”

Since 1998, Little Big Town have been making the kind of down-home country twang that gets feet tapping and hearts warming. The foursome are currently touring their fifth and latest album, Tornado, and they need inspiration on the road — that’s why they play their Rdio Dressing Room Playlist.

The playlist includes some unexpected picks — blues-rock buzzmakers Alabama Shakes, troubadour John Mayer, and swaggering pop outfit Maroon 5, to name a few. Find out why the band picked each song and artist in the notes below. Go ahead and play the mix; just don’t be surprised if you feel like belting out a few country tunes afterwards.

  • Alabama Shakes – "Hold On"
So much soul on this record... can’t wait to see them live.

  • Jack White - "Love Interruption"
The sound is bare and bold. Love the lyrics and the vocals.

  • Pistol Annies – "Takin' Pills"
These girls are the good kind of crazy. We love hanging with them.

  • fun. – "Some Nights"
I guess with a band name like this you can’t make downer music. This track will make you feel good.

  • Eric Church – "Creepin’"
We’re huge fans of the whole Chief record, but this is one of our favorites.

  • John Mayer – "Born and Raised"
Maybe the best thing he’s ever written. These lyrics are stunning.

  • Maroon 5 - "One More Night"
The perfect end of summer jam.

  • Eli Young Band – "Say Goodnight"
We love hearing these guys play every night. It’s been a pleasure to tour with them.

  • Josh Thompson – "Comin' Around"
Josh is a friend, and this is just good country music.

  • The Lumineers - "Stubborn Love"
The blend of folk, gospel, and country music in this is perfection.

  • Jerrod Neimann – "Shinin' on Me"
This will make you want a margarita in your hand. Love the horns.

  • James Morrison - "One Life"
The sentiment we all want to live by.

  • Shovels and Rope – "Birmingham"
A friend introduced us to this band and now we can’t stop listening.

  • Florence and the Machine – "Shake It Out"
    Epic and spiritual.
