New Music Tuesday - May 22, 2012

It’s New Music Tuesday again, so get your ears ready — we’ve got a ton of new music just waiting to find its way into your regular Rdio rotation. UK singer-songwriter Cold Specks, and texas-bred punks The Riverboat Gamblers all have new albums this week. Sade’s got a new live album, and Sir Paul McCartney is reissuing his classic album, Ram.

For even more, read our playlist notes below, listen to the weekly New Music Tuesday playlist and peruse this week’s New Releases.

Playlist Notes

  • Kimbra - Vows
You already know Kimbra’s voice from Gotye’s ubiquitous “Somebody That I Used to Know,” but now it’s her turn in the spotlight. Vows spawned three hit singles in Australia, and with the release of her debut in North America, it’s just a matter of time before they’re hits here, too.

  • Haley Reinhart - Listen Up!
The debut album from this 2011 American Idol finalist prominently displays the powerful voice that took Reinhart to the top of the Idol rankings. Listen now to see what the fuss is about, and keep your ears perked for the guest spot from rapper B.o.B.

  • Aziz Ansari - Dangerously Delicious
Known for his role on Parks and Recreation, Aziz Ansari releases his second album of stand-up this week. Expect wry observations delivered in a hilarious, deadpan fashion.

  • Far East Movement - Dirty Bass
World-music influenced, bass-heavy hip-hop quartet follows up their breakout 2010 album with Free Wired. It’s another album of foundation-shaking dance-party rap.

  • John Mayer - Born and Raised
Having conquered the world of pop rock already, Mayer heads in a folkier, more mature direction with Born and Raised.
