Artist To Watch - Slum Sociable

Throughout October, Melbourne Lo-Fo washed-out jazz hop duo Slum Sociable will be highlighted as Rdio’s Artist To Watch.

2015 has already been a solid year for long-term friends Edward Quinn and Miller Upchurch, with singles ‘Anyway’ and ‘All Night’ garnering the duo much deserved attention from fans and music critics alike, with the latter track reaching the Top Five of Hype Machine’s Most Popular Chart.

Their new EP, titled TQ, is due for release on October 9. All seven tracks on the EP were co-produced by Tom Iansek, of Big Scary and #1 Dads fame. Set to be part jazz, part hip-hop, part trip-hop, part acoustic electronica – the duo have developed an ambient yet brooding twist on new age jazz, with Ed and Miller playing pretty much everything on the record themselves.

Tune into Slum Sociable's artist station or give our free Artist To Watch station a spin to stay up to date on all of our picks for hot music that’s next to break.

Rdio Artist To Watch - Dustin Tebbutt

This September, Dustin Tebbutt will be thrust into the limelight as Rdio’s Artist To Watch.

It has been nearly two years since Dustin’s acclaimed debut EP, The Breach, set the local music scene alight, garnering rave reviews and a sizeable fan base. His indie folk tunes, recorded in the depths of a Scandinavian winter, captured imaginations across Australia. Dustin then released follow-up EP, Bones, in May 2014 which led him to high rotation on Triple J and slots at Splendour in the Grass 2014 and 2015.

“I’m super excited to share my new music with everyone” said the singer-songwriter, “big thanks to Rdio for helping me do so!”.

Home is the lead title-track off an imminent seven song mini-album from the respected Australian singer/songwriter, set to be released on 18th September, alongside a five-date national tour. Playing to the largest venues of his career, fans can look forward to witnessing just how much Dustin’s song writing and live performances have progressed with experience. To get listeners excited for his mini-album and the tour, Dustin’s existing catalogue will be championed on Rdio throughout September, giving fans easy access to his signature sounds.
