Celebrate the Season With Rdio's New Holiday Music Mix

If you can’t bear another year of listening to the same old Christmas carols, Rdio’s New Holiday Music - 2012 Edition playlist has four dozen hand-picked audio treats to help you get into the spirit without putting “Jingle Bells” in your head in an incessant loop.

The holidays bring out the tender side of some, as on Elvis Presley's romantic “Blue Christmas.” It also can ignite hot passion, like Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s "Winter Palace,” or push a person to the heights of their abilities — just listen to Kelly Clarkson’s diva-tastic “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

A newly remastered version of Vince Guaraldi Trio’s “Great Pumpkin Waltz” and a duet of “This Christmas” by Grease co-stars Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta tug at nostalgic heartstrings, while contemporary acts like Colbie Caillat, Lady Antebellum, and Cee-Lo keep the party grounded in the present tense.

The season sounds bold and bright on the New Holiday Music - 2012 Edition playlist.

New Names Join the Rdio Artist Program

It’s been just a little over a month since the Rdio Artist Program launched and the response has been tremendous. Today, we’re pleased to welcome new names such as Questlove, Far East Movement, Thievery Corporation, What So Not, and Muscles.

Artists have been sharing new releases and old favourites — from Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters tweeting out Boys Noize’s new album, to Snoop Dogg’s (aka Snoop Lion) ‘70s soul-inspired Friday Grooves playlist — and users are excited to listen along with their favourite artists on Rdio.

As previously announced, artists can share their music and the music they love with their followers, and the program rewards them for fan engagement. The Rdio Artist Program is active in all countries Rdio is available, so visit the Artist Program page to learn more.
